Florham Park is a borough of 12,585 people as of the 2020 census, its highest count so far. The area was first settled between 1680 and 1700 and went by Hoppingtown, Broomtown, Columbia and Afton before it was incorporated from part of Chatham Township on March 9, 1899. The Broomtown name came from the brooms made here.
The borough's name comes from Florham, the Gilded Age estate of Florence Vanderbilt Twombly and Hamilton Twombly, named by joining their first names. Since 2008 Florham Park has also been the main headquarters of the New York Jets.

The Lenape were the first people in the area, and English and Dutch settlers arrived sometime between 1680 and 1700. The land was known for a long time as prime farming ground. Florham Park covers 7.48 square miles, and its eastern edge is the Passaic River, across from Livingston and Millburn in Essex County. The borough is the North American headquarters of BASF, VDM Metals runs a nickel alloy melting plant here, and Conduent and BNED are also based in town. Part of the Saint Elizabeth University campus lies in the borough, including the Villa of Saint Ann, an amphitheater in the classical Greek style set into a hillside. Holy Family School opened in 1954 with 173 students. Route 24 has one interchange partly inside the borough, Exit 2.
